Emerging Professionals is a committee of the USGBC Massachusetts Chapter.

EPMA ELECTIONS

Elections are here! You can nominate yourself or someone else for a position. Here are the positions that are open. 

 

OFFICER POSITIONS:

One Co-Chair Position

Co-Chairs shall be the chief executive officers of the EPMA organization. Elected annually by the full membership of the EPMA, the co-chairs:

  • Plan and run the monthly EPMA planning committee meetings.
  • Represent the EPMA constituency in the USGBC MA chapter, attend USGBC MA board meetings, and collaborate with the Chapter.
  • Communicate with Emerging Professionals national group.
  • Support the EPMA sub-committees.

 

Secretary

The Secretary will be responsible for leading efforts to write proposals and grants, managing correspondence with partner organizations, distributing email notifications for meetings or initiatives, setting up EPMA Planning Committee Conference Calls, and sending out EPMA Planning Committee thank you letters.  The Secretary shall take and disseminate minutes from EPMA Planning Committee meeting as well as all other large-scale EPMA events.

 

COMMITTEE CHAIR POSITIONS:

Events Committee Chair

The Events Committee Chair will be in charge of organizing large-scale annual events for EPMA. This Committee will organize one or two events each year in coordination with other EPMA Subcommittees and MA USGBC.  The Events Chair will be responsible for coordinating with all people involved, securing venues, inviting speakers, and making decisions regarding event details. A great opportunity to get involved! 

 

The Design Competition Committee Co-Chair

The Design Competition Chairperson is responsible for coordinating the local Emerging Professionals annual Design Competition.  Responsibilities include: 

  • Locating a project site, developing program summary, and facilitating involvement of host partner; 
  • Coordinating committee efforts around outreach, fundraising, and events; 
  • Communicating with the National EP Coordinator and coordinating and facilitating judging of entries in partnership with local professionals and community members.

The Competition attracts students and young professionals interested in creating a sustainable design for real and academic projects in the Boston area, and is a great opportunity to get connected with a variety of people in the green building field.

 

The officer positions plus the committee chairs make up the EPMA Planning Committee.

 

NEW POSITIONS:  Looking for independent, talented people for non-structured roles!

EPMA Photographer / Videographer – Take photos at events and make videos of EPMA educational lectures.  Free access to events!

 

EPMA Graphic Designer – Create brochures, flyers, website graphics, etc.  Great for building your portfolio.  Website abilities a plus.

 

Social Media Coordinator – Manage EPMA branding on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media avenues.  Coordinate with Graphic Designer to integrate social media onto EPMA website.

 

EPMA Newsletter Editor – We are looking for talented writers to compose articles for our newsletter! This is another excellent way to gain exposure within the green building community.

  • Name of nominee
  • Position nominee is running for
  • 4-5 sentences explaining why the person would be good for the position
  • Current status: student or professional, and in what field 
  • Name of school or company (this is for EGB purposes only – it will be kept private)
  • Make the Subject of the Email EPMA Nominations

 

GENERAL VOLUNTEER POSITIONS:  We are always looking for motivated young professionals to join in volunteer roles within each of the committees to help plan and execute EPMA business.  When we send out the final list of nominees, please participate in the last page of the survey to volunteer for general committee involvement.  Each committee is open to new volunteers, and will have a description about the committee and how to join.

Emerging Professionals Massachusetts Chapter is always looking for members to join our committees. We have an Education Committee, Outreach Committee, Events Committee, Design Competition Committee and a Membership Committee. If you are interested in getting involved, email epma.usgbc@gmail.com.
